Daryl Easlea has over 40 years experience in the music industry, from starting as a Saturday boy in WH Smith record department at 13, to being an Area Manager for Our Price Records at 23, on the staff at Record Collector magazine at 33, the Head of Motown UK Catalogue at 43 and today, a published author, A&R Consultant for record companies, contributor to magazines, radio and TV. A DJ for 40 years, (the position of School DJ was created for him!), Daryl has run a variety of his own nights, played at Q, Mojo Awards, the V and Big Chill Festivals, the V&A Museum, Turbine Hall in Tate Modern, the Croisette at Cannes; with his wife and occasional DJ partner Jules, he devised Middle Age Spread – grown up disco for those unafraid to dance. MAS have DJed on the main stage of the Village Green Festival since 2013, and have regular over-subscribed disco evenings. Daryl also founded the Tamla Tuesday night at London’s Big Chill Bar where he DJed between 2007-2009 with regulars Andy 'The Document' Smith and Soft Cell's Dave Ball, with guests such as Martin Fry, Kevin Rowland and Martin Freeman, all bringing their love of vintage soul to the night. A generalist who loves and collects all music but adores soul and funk, he lives with Jules and daughter by the seaside rather near where he was born, and he remains completely unafraid to dance.
